New approach to rhythm based games

Many of you have most likely played a rhythm based video game likely guitar hero, but none of you can say you have used footballs being hit against pads on a wall on a controller. In order to promote kasabian's new single, technicians created a mod for the freeware game, similar to guitar hero, Frets on Fire. The technicians made it possible to create pads that when hit, mimicked hitting a key on the keyboard of a computer which in turn hit a button in game. The pads had motion sensors in the back that were all connected to the computer with a projector showing the onscreen displays. It's a bit hard to explain so here is a video:

  1. This is really interesting, though seems pretty impractical. How would this be produced for the masses? How would it be set at at home? It does seem cool and has similarities to guitar hero, though seems to have a very specific target, because if you don't play soccer you really couldn't play this game. Unlike guitar hero, where even if you don't play you can get the hang of it easily. This is a very interesting use of technology though.

  2. Wow this is a very cool idea. It seems a lot cooler than guitar hero. However this targets mainly footballers which is a good and bad thing. It's good in the sense that footballers will improve accuracy but its bad in the sense that it only targets 1 sport

  3. This is so interesting! Is this meant to be created for the masses, or this kind of a one-time thing? Who created it? Where did you find this? The video really helps explain it... Thanks!
